Learning Connections™ - Learning Management System

About Scepter Software

Scepter Software is the successor to The Gessert Group, a marketing, communications and sales training firm specializing in the health care industry which, in 2005, joined forces with BVK, a Milwaukee-based advertising agency. Lisé Gessert joined The Gessert Group in 1992 as a multi-media training developer and spun off Scepter Software, Inc. in 2005 to focus on web and desk-top application development for former Gessert Group clients.

Approximately 70% of Scepter's sales is derived from the Learning Connections Learning Management System, the remaining 30% is from custom application programming fees. Scepter's primary areas of expertise are database design and development, dynamic data-driven application programming, and economic modeling tools.

The success of Scepter Software underscores the often inverse relationship between service, pricing and size. Sometimes referred to as a “boutique organization”, Scepter Software is able to respond to client requests for information, assistance and custom programming instantaneously and does not have the overhead costs organizations typically need to pass on in their pricing structure.

Key business partnerships include Northwoods Software Development Inc., BVK and Terremark Worldwide, a leading global provider of IT infrastructure services.

Product History

“Learning Connections” began as an online testing service developed by The Gessert Group for its training clients. During 2005 the testing center was developed into a full-featured learning management system with the flexibility to adapt to unique organizational requirements.

Having evolved from a stand-alone testing center, the concept of separating training from testing was preserved, allowing the LMS to track training progress, regardless of its source (online, CD-ROM , written materials, classroom, field-based training etc.). As a result, there are no issues involved with third party content development. If a training module runs in a browser, it is compatible with this LMS. If information is hosted elsewhere on the internet, the LMS course catalog can link to it.

Each LMS installation is branded to the client and is customized to meet their unique requirements. Unlimited technical support is included in the annual license fee. Upgrades are client-driven and are implemented in other Learning Connections installations when they have universal application.
